August 28 Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop and Hurricane Ida

We are in the track of Hurricane Ida today sixteen years after Katrina destroyed so much of our area.  We are not evacuating because of the horse and the rest of our zoo.  Frankly I would love to be heading away from this one but things just won't allow it.  Flooding is not an issue for us just the wind.  My house is surrounded by trees that I practically chained myself to them to keep my husband from clearing the whole two acres!  Note to self: maybe not so good an idea?  So I have done really all I can do to get ready now it is just sit and wait time.  I am baking a ton of biscuits and tea cakes cause I get the munchies when I am stressed!  While stuff is in the oven I wanted to post this one from yesterday.

I framed it up just to see how the pair could go together.
I am entranced with the way the font of the sentiment from Leigh's Grunge Essential Sentiments Steampunk Serengeti Digi Stamp Set works with the gorgeous watercolor gazelle from Gecko Galz 's Safari Jewels It Collection!  I think a large framed set of the gazelle and giraffe will look amazing! Stay safe out there and I hope to be able to join you all after this broohaha is over.  I am linking this at the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

August 26 Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

This lovely watercolor giraffe is from Gecko Galz's Safari Jewel It Collection.  I wanted to make some small pieces but couldn't resist using the giraffe with the sentiment from Leigh's Stay Wild Steampunk Serengeti Grunge Sentiment Digi Set.  I think it would look lovely as a wall print!  I printed it out on cardstock but my printer just doesn't do a top notch print so I am just adding it from the computer here so the colors stay true.

August 25 Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

Alrighty then....excuse making time!  I had a doctor's appointment today for refills on my heart meds that turned quickly into a comedy sketch!  The front office people thought I had insisted on a face to face visit apparently.  I, on the other hand, had requested a video visit as our numbers are very high right now but was told no.   Finally, realizing that maybe I could just make another appointment and get a video thingy I asked and was told sure!  Much to my relief I quickly got out of the doctor's office and talked to my doc a few minutes later! He is a dear friend who is working round the clock and I have so much respect for him and his nurses!  It was just so much like Who's on First? trying to figure it out in the moment! 😂  So time got away from me and it was almost dark when I went out to feed the horse.  There was the most beautiful sunset happening!  Rushing to finish feeding Asia and trying not to wrench my back any further, I fast walked back and got my phone to snap a quick pic!  The trees in silhouette reminded me of our blog hop theme!

I added the sentiment from Leigh's Steampunk Serengeti Grunge Sentiment Digi Stamp Set in Photoshop.  The next one came about playing with the colors a bit and I liked it a lot, too!

So maybe if I hadn't told you where this was you might imagine it was in a far off land!  So I am sending this one off packing to the far away land of the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

August 24 Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

Did anyone else get a giggle from my Sreampunk instead of Steampunk in my title last night?  I certainly did!  I couldn't even check to see how many other mistakes were in the post for my fit of laughter!  Anyhoo, here we go tonight with another ATC to go along with my other one.

I used some cardboard that had the most wonderful character to it and stamped it with a background stamp from Lost Coast Designs (I totally failed to find it to link but you maybe luckier!).  It is a long stamp with steampunk things on it!  I glued to a playing card, stapled around it and inked the edges.  I used elements from the same set from my Music of Africa by SVG Files.US.  Again I inked and smushed the elements with Distress Inks and made the sentiment in Photoshop.
This is another one for the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party can be found HERE!  P.S. I posted twice for the 18th I think but I have missed quiet a few days so that was a good thing!😊

August 23 Sreampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

Well, my back officially went out to lunch day before yesterday 😩.  No way to sit or prop up so no crafting.  Tonight I managed to lay on my side and get this one in Procreate and blog it.

The background paper caught my eye in Pixabay (Please Don’t Sell My Artwork AS IS creator).  I immediately thought of Leigh’s Japanese Clouds when I saw the lovely light blue in the background!   A rhino was on my list of things to do so I added a silhouette from the same creator but colored it in the orange so I could add the tree backdrop. (also Pixabay but I lost the creator tag..sorry).
Also pretty sure the links are not right but my fingers are crossed!  I am posting this at the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details are HERE!

August 20th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

A gear Father's Day card (freebie) by Simply Crafts svg's seemed a good starting place for a steampunk birthday card!  I am not going to lie; I had some mishaps with this one but all due to my limitations with Cricut!   When my back is acting up so bad I can't get up or down :) I do a lot of shopping for images and svg files and projects!  No, I don't drunk online shop but I do add some crafty downloads to the ole cart while I am down resting the spine!

This was definitely a learning card/curve as I had to make the sentiment in Designs Space and I  wanted a drop shadow but couldn't figure it out so I used the paper after cutting as a stencil and inked it!  Crafters never quit!  This is another one for the

August 19th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

It's been ages it seems since I worked on any ATC's!  I did today and had a great time!

I found this cool svg file at SVG Files.US after buying another file there.  I liked that I could ink or color some parts of most of the images on it so I printed it out as a png file on some cardstock.  I used some patterned paper that I had soaked up some Distress Oxide Spray with and then cut the border from the image sheet.  I fussy cut the other elements and inked with Distress Inks.  The sentiment was just made on Photoshop.  Easy as all get out! (Southern phrasing there! :)  So the images and Distress Inks did practically all of the hard work!  Off the visit the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop presented by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

August 18th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

Super quickie tonight!  I used Leigh's Giraffe Steampunk Serengeti Xtreme Slimline Panel Digi Stamp and a freebie Rectangle Box Frame SVG by Special Heart Studio.  I really wanted a shadow box type frame for my giraffe and this worked great with some free digital paper from gathered.com.  I just inked my image with Distress Oxides.  It would have been better if I had had the time to use metallic pens on this (wink, wink...a Leigh inspiration!) but time was not on my side today!

When I propped it to take the photo it cast too much of a shadow on the top :(  I did pop the image layer on top of three layers of cardboard, too.  The sentiment is also Leigh's  Grunge Essential Sentiments from the new collection!

Butterfly Challenge Rocker Card and Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop August 18th

Thanks again to Susan R. for reintroducing the Butterfly Challenge to me!  I have been going through the instructions on how to make so many fabulous cards!  So here are the elements for this challenge #160:

I used a freebie set of safari themed images to make my rocker card.  I am hoping my royal blue is close enough....it keeps changing every time I look at it! :)  I added a die cut butterfly in rose pink and used some bright yellow ribbon on the bottom!  I will be linking this to both the Butterfly Challenge and the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!

August 17th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

This is my project for the midway post at Ike's World Challenges. The theme is always Anything Goes and this month we have a optional Animals theme that fits in perfectly with our Blog Hop!  Play with us and Ike's World Challenges this month!  I love giraffes...I just love them!  These two are from Ike's Art Animal Silhouette Set.

Distress Oxide Sprays and a couple of other sprays from my stash make up this background.  The tree is a freebie from a magazine...also the paper at the bottom.  The sentiment is a clear stamp from a magazine freebie set!  After these two eat their breakfast they will amble on over to the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the deets and linky party are HERE!

Ike's World Challenges August Mid-Way Post!

Is anyone else pinning for fall weather?  At my age I hate to rush the seasons but this summer heat has me beat!  Here we are at the mid-way point of Ike's World Challenges #147 Anything Goes with an option of Animals!  So to match the heat I am taking a safari trek to watch some giraffes!   These are from the Animal Silhouette Set by Ike's Art.  Ike is having to deal with a change in the Zibbett platform so we temporarily cannot link up to the images.  We hope the platform will be back operational soon!

I made the super cute giraffes a beautiful sunset sky with Distress Oxide Sprays and some Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays.  The tree and leaves at the bottom are freebies from a papercrafting magazine.  I fussy cut the animals and the tree inking them with Distress Inks before gluing the tree to the background paper and using foam tape for the animals.  The sentiment is a stamp included in another papercrafting magazing layered on some patterned paper.  I hope you enjoyed our journey and can feel the wind sweeping across the grasses!  But now it is time for you to grab some crafty goodies and join in the challenge for August!  It beats cutting the grass, weeding the garden, any of those awfully hot and sweaty jobs outside!  Hope to visit your blog after you join the linky party at Ike's World Challenges!

August 16th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

I wanted to make a steampunk luminary with the Cricut and I don't know my way around Design Space to create one.  Jennifer Maker has a Christmas Tree Luminary Set that made it not so hard for me to do!  I used the plain frame in PDF and cut that out with scissors.  I printed Leigh's Steampunk Serengeti Rectangle Collage Lace Cutz large enough on patterned paper to be able to put them on copy paper and use for each window.  I used copy paper because vellum in one of those things I never ever think of to buy when ordering craft goodies!  All the items from the Steampunk Serengeti Collection are just a joy to work with....I am a tad obsessed!

Believe it or not the top pic is with the lights on and the bottom with them off.  Somehow I managed to make them look exactly alike!

To embellish the front,  I cut the gears from the Gears and Leaves Steampunk Elements Cutz Set and sprayed with Distress Oxide Ink Sprays (wilted violet and spiced marmalade) then layered in a cluster.  I inked the  tree frame with Distress Ink (pink lipstick) then I sprayed it with Distress Oxide Spray (picked raspberry).  Another one done and dusted for the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

August 15th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!

Super quick make using a SVG from Craft House SVG that was a free!  I want to make a tshirt with this one so decided a little play with less permanent options might be helpful!  I literally scribbled some Gelatos on a piece of cereal box and cut the design and made a frame from some patterned paper that had some shine to it!

SUYP Cat Lovers Challenge for August!

It is a cat's life on this rocker card with a lovely butterfly saying hello to this cute pair!

View from the top!

My first ever rocker card using the instructions from the Butterfly Challenge which was so kindly linked in Susan R's blog this week!  I got so involved with making this I forgot about the colors and ribbon I needed to use to enter the Butterfly Challenge but that just means I get to make another one! The total plus side to having a kitty themed rocker card is getting to scurry over to Ike's Show Us Your
Pussycats Cat Lovers Challenge #69 Anything Goes!  The kitties and sentiment are freebies from a craft magazine and the butterfly is cut with a freebie die cut from another craft magazine!

August 13th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

I have had more computer related crisis the past few days!  My external hard drive crashed, broke, won't work and all my images for years were on it 😱  So here I start with my first digital image of this new period of starting over and it is Steampunk Easter Bunny by LeighSBDesigns!

Using some more freebie digital papers from a magazine that just rocked the steampunk theme I thought, I colored up the bunny with Prisma colored pencils and popped him on some foam dots.  I also added a second layer of steampunk eggs on some foam dots, too!  I used the sentiment from the Grunge Essentials Sentiments layering it on some of the paper.  And I just realized I did not put any white lights in his eyes but I am tired so I shall fix it tomorrow.....stay tuned for the update!😂  He is hopping off to join the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop presented by LeighSBDesigns!  All the deets and linky party can be found HERE!

August 12th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

Here with another one from Leigh's Steampunk Serengeti Collection!  I used the Collage Layer Lace Cutz which is available separately or in the Steampunk Serengeti SVG Cutz Bundle  .  I also used a sentiment from the Grunge Essential Sentiments set.  I layered the Lace Cutz onto some pieces from the Gears and Leaves Layered Cutz that I had been playing with and put everything on top of a Steampunk Paper from Dragons Lair Designs (no longer in business).

I am still trying to learn the ins and outs of my Cricut so there are a few uh ohs mainly due to my blade being dull me thinks and my getting my up sides mixed up with my down sides!  All defintely user error!😉  This is another one for the linky at the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and the linky party are located HERE!

August 11th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with Leigh!

So you ever run across an image or images that you had totally forgotten about?  We all know I do ...all the time....over and over again!  I loved this little Steampunk Octopus Freddie "Legs" Wise-Key #250 by Oddball Art and the Grunge Lace #342!  Every time I browse at Oddball Art I am drawn to this octopus!  Imagine my surprise when I found him on my Ipad today! :)

I played with this in Procreate while a storm was brewing up outside.  So far lots of thunder and no rain but we had, and I estimate, 40 days of rain every day from mid June till August.  It was wonderful for my tomato and pepper plants but the humidity was overwhelming.  Then the possum ate my tomato plants but that is another story for another day!  Freddie er I mean Legs is going to visit the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop presented by LeighSBDesigns!  All the deets and the linky party are HERE!  So come on and play a bit with us!

August 10th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with Leigh!

I was printing off some images for my design team project for Ike's World Challenges, where the theme is Anything Goes with an option to use Animals so why not combine your make for the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with Ike's!  I had an idea to try Ike's Elephant  from the African Animals Silhouettes Set in some digital play!  Ike is working to reopen the Ike's Art after Zibbet changed owners!  What a bummer!  I used Leigh's Gears and Leaves Layered Steampunk Elements Cutz Set as a layer and added the sentiment from the Steampunk Serengeti Grunge Sent Set that is part of the digital releases for this Steampunk Serengeti Collection!

I used Photoshop and a LOT of help from Noel to keep my layers from disappearing on me!  It was worth having to ask for help (again and again!!!) cause I love the finished project!  Now let me herd the elephants over the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop presented by LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and the linky party can be found HERE!

August 9th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

Rolling in tonight with some fantastic svg cutz from Leigh's new collection Steampunk Serengeti!  I played it smart this time and got the digi bundle and the cutz bundle cause I always want to play with ALL the new releases!  I used the following from the Bundle SVG Cutz Steampunk Serengeti Collection: Africa Layered Lace Cutz and Steampunk Serengeti Text Layered Cutz.  All of the new releases can be purchased separately or in the bundles!

Easy Peasey with Leigh's wonderful svg files and the Cricut.  Papers from around the desk and I did download some freebie animal print paper from gathered.com (I want to say this is for Making Cards & Papercrafting magazine from UK but not 100% sure).  Off now to the linky party at LeighSBDesigns Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop!  All the deets and the linky are HERE!

August 6th Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

Yay! It's my baby boy's birthday today!  Happy Birthday, Noah!  Time for another blog hop with Leigh and to celebrate the AWESOME Steampunk Serengeti Summer Collection Releases!  There are digital stamps and cut files galore!

I used the digital stamp, Elephant Steampunk Serengeti Xtreme Slimline Panel, which you can get in the Bundle Digi Stamps Steampunk Serengeti Collection or just by itself.  The fabulous frame and card is from the Bundle SVG Cutz Steampunk Serengeti Collection.  It is available separately, too, the Steampunk Serengeti Animal Print Layered Frame and Xtreme Slimline Card Set.  The SVG file cuts three mats in two different colors with mats.  I stacked the frames together and glue before gluing onto the mats.  The sentiment is from the Bundle set and also available separately, Steampunk Segengeti 3D Layered Text Panel Cutz.  I got befuddled and ended up doing the sentiment by itself but I still love how it turned out! 😊  I stacked a two poster layers for the shadows and words then inked with Distress Ink and sprayed with some Moon Spray.   The is the first day of the Steampunk Serengeti Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!  The linky party and a few simple rules are located HERE!
