Mermazing Ike

While crafting away for the MerMay Challenge at LeighSBDesigns I couldn't help thinking how lucky I am to have some amazing friends through design teams!  I had this lovely mermaid printed out for Ike's World Challenges and really wanted to use it for this month.  I saw that Dagmara, a team member from Ike's World Challenges, is posting her makes for the rest of this year even though the challenge is now closed.  It was such a sweet thought and wonderful way to remember our dear friend, Ike!  So I added Ike's mermaid to a canvas with Leigh's sentiment from the FantaSea Senti set and the pearl bed from the FantaSea Scape set.  It made me really happy to create with the beautiful mermaid and Leigh's sentiment seemed to go so well with it.

I wasn't going to post it anywhere but here on my blog but I decided that sharing Ike's images is something that I don't ever want to stop doing.  So I dedicate this to the amazing, loving and kind, Ike in hopes that we all take the time to treasure the true friends we have in our crafty universes 💖

All details and linky party are here.
I am also linking this to Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges for May where the theme is Mermaids and the sponsor is LeighSBDesigns.  I am only entering for fun!

Challenge #5 MerMay at LeighSBDesigns!

I know I say this about every new collection Leigh releases but I am totally smitten by this very new FantaSea Collection!  That brings us to Challenge #5 at LeighSBDesigns.....MerMay!  Here is my crafty bit using Bastet Catfish Fantasea Pet plue senti , another senti from the FantaSea Senties Set of 6 sentimentsthe SVG Cutz Mermaid Scales Horizontal Slimline Card Kit and elements from the Egyptian Elements Florals and Column Set!

I started with a black card base and insert/front and added the mermaid scales I had cut with the Cricut from cardstock I had painted with acrylic paint in mixes of phthalo blue and titanium white.  I added the scales with glue.  I colored Bastet the Catfish with colored pencils and used the florals from the Egyptian Elements set.  I fussy cut the lot of them and popped Bastet up on foam dots and glued the rest to the card leaving the flowers loose to give some dimension.  I inked the edges of the sentiment that came with Bastet and adhered with foam squares.

I added some of the light blue scales to frame the dark blue insert that I cut.  The sentiment is inked with Distress Inks and I added some gold floral bits to the corners of both senties!  The inside senti is on foam squares, too.  It adds some bulk to the card but I am fine with that!  I chose Bastet to play with first because I LOVE fried catfish!!  Bastet is too adorable to eat so no worries there!😜  So off he swims to join Challenge #5 MerMay at LeighSBDesigns and all the details and linky party are HERE!

I am entering (just for fun coz I have announcement in June!) Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge for May and the theme is Mermaids and LeighSBDesigns is the sponsor!

A Card for Ike

We lost a shining star in our crafting world and a beautiful friend in so many lives!  Ike would be chastising us for our tears and telling us a joke to make us smile.  She was an amazing soul and I know she shines even brighter as a star in our skies watching over us now!  I can't put into words what she meant to me and the many wonderful acts of kindness she did for me as I know she did for so many!  I was in the process of making this card for a design team when I heard the news and when I went back to it all I could think about was Ike and her love for cats.  So I am adding this to her challenge sending all the love in my heart to her 💖

SheepSki Designs and Sunday Songs and Rhymes Challenge at The Outlawz!

Time for The Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes Challenge and we are inspired by the poem "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" by Eugene Field.  I love this one so much and I took my inspiration from the line "The old moon asked of the three."  Our fabulous sponsor for this challenge is Sheepski Designs!

I used the image Purrr-fect Love with two sentiments!  I think this image is soooo sweet!  I colored the kitties, moons and roof with Copics and used phthalo blue watercolor for the sky.  The stars were created by splattering titanium white acrylic paint with an old toothbrush....do not use your teeth's toothbrush!  I made three of the stars sparkle by using the white acrylic and a liner brush to create the lines.  Oh, before splattering the colored image I cut out a second copy and used washi tape under it for a mask.  Pretty important to keep the kitties and roof from getting really starry!  I used fired brick Distress Ink for the sentiment and foam tape to adhere it and some patterned paper and red cardstock with a touch of glue was all it took!  We hope you will come play at The Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes with us!

Alfred Hitchcock and Friend at LeighSBDesigns Challenge #4

I made a postcard along these same lines several years ago but I had to do it again for Challenge #4 at LeighSBDesigns!  This image is one of my all time favs and I am a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock!  I will binge watch his television series about every 6 months or so!  Here is my party edition of Alfred Hitchcock with Iconic Bird by LeighSBDesigns!

The sentiment was something it just seemed like each one of them would be saying to the other so I typed it up in Photoshop and did some wonky line work around it.  I colored them with Copics after using Photoshop to size and add the hats then printing it out.  This will be my last entry this month at LeighSBDesigns Challenge #4 Celebrations!  Details and linky party here!

Through the Craft Room Door First DT Project!

This was supposed to be posted on here Tuesday and silly Blogger didn’t do it’s job! That’s right I am blaming technology and I am sticking to it!  I am super excited to be on the design team of Through the Craft Room Door.   So here is my first project for the TTCRD Challenge which is Anything Goes!. I had the pleasure of creating with ZoZo the Hobo and Zoey the Shih tzu by our sponsor Color of Love!

I colored her with colored pencils and markers and panted the background with watercolor.  I popped the layers up with foam dots and glued ZoZo on the top layer.  The sentiment is a freebie from Stampington.  She is absolutely gorgeous!  I hope you will check out Color of Love and come play with us at Through the Craft Room Door!

Celebrating Cats, Cherry Blossoms and Japan!

I love this month's challenge theme at LeighSBDesigns!   It is all about Celebrations and I am always ready and happy to celebrate every single thing about most of my days!  Todays project has a basic cherry blossom theme and in Japan, cherry blossom season is celebrated with picnics under the falling blossoms with family and friends!  The next theme of my card is all things Japan!  I love the people, the sights and sounds of trains, Mt. Fuji and the food but the people of Japan have always made my trips there so pleasant and memorable!  Then we come to the cats and we know how many cat lovers there are out there!

This little card contains the following absolutely PURRfect images by LeighSBDesigns:
I layered everything up on the gorgeous clouds with foam squares and inked the edges of the frame and senti with worn lipstick Distress Ink.  If you enjoy these digital images please check out Leigh's SVG and Silhouette Cutz designs!  The Cherry Blossom Branch is stunning when cut with one of these files!    So off this goes to LeighSBDesigns Challenge #4 Celebrations with all details and linky party HERE!
