Day 11? Summer Buzz Blog Hop

Click on the link above or HERE to see all the details on the blog hop and then just follow a few simple rules and drop your project off so you can be in the running for some fab prizes from LeighSBDesigns!  Quick post tonight!  Here is a beach scene for my art junk journal I am starting (explains the non-backed card.....well, at least this time it does ๐Ÿ˜œ )
From All Dressed Up, the image Summertime!  I couldn't find this image in the store so I linked up to the whole store.  I used Prismacolor colored pencils on the closest paper I had to kraft paper which is a lot yellowish.  I love using colored pencils on kraft paper; the colors just pop so nicely!  I drew some sand which is kinda lost in the yellowish background and added some water coming in at the edge with my colored pencils.  I added a bit of foam/sprinkles/droplets? with a white gel pen.  Then glued to some papers and punched some circles to make a sun and glued in the corner.  Join the fun HERE at LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog for the Summer Buzz Blog Hop!

Sexy Vampire Cat for Ike's SUYP Challenge

We all know how many labels exist today for most all of the Earth's good creatures.  I am sharing one of those tiny creatures who is rebelling against the label that somehow attaches itself to almost all vampires.  Yes, the label sexy....I blame it on those dreadful movies that had them sparkle like diamonds on acid for the problem!  Poor Catular, a fabulously charming image by Ike's Art, just isn't feeling like living up to that daunting label!
You can just see how much he is trying to shake that pesky problem, can't you?๐Ÿ˜ผ  Well, he might be playing up a bit for the camera with his velvet cloak all lined with red and those shiny, glistening teeth all bared!  I used the image Catular, of course!, and colored him up with Prisma colored pencils.  The quote is from Brainy Quotes and to be honest I haven't a clue who Joe Gilgun is but I do love this quote!   Catular is layered up with some papers, lace, and diamonds ( I couldn't resist!) with some candied apple Distress Ink edging him up.  I stapled the lace and faux diamonds on the cardstock and added some gloss to those gorgeous eyes, mouth, and teeth.
I am entering him at Show Us Your Pussycats Challenge #55 where all your kitty cat projects will find a place to shine!

June's Midway Post for Ike's World Challenges

It is time for some fun and games with Ike's World Challenges #133 - R is for Round or Dots/Anything Goes. You can play the theme or as always, Anything Goes at Ike's!   I hope you all grab some crafty thingies and jump right in the middle of the fun!
I am using the most playful, joyful Sockies!  I admit I fell under their spell right away and knew I had to "build" a home for them!  With the help of my lovely daughter,  I used a couple of images from a stock image site and she resized them up for me!
We (by that I mean she did it ๐Ÿ˜ผ) added the banner with their names in Photoshop and printed a cute backdrop for them.  Alas, the backdrop image is not showing up in the main photo but I did take a pic to prove it was there!
The sun always shines for the Sockies!  Their humble home is built upon a cereal box.  And just to give you a good chuckle.....I sealed it up without adding the backdrop and had to tear it open to pop it back in!  Trials of an aging crafter!  I did so enjoy working with these wonderful images by our fabulous Ike's Art!  She always has just the right image for just about any occasion and I love working with her sooo much!  And here is proof of the box :)
I used the image Sockies by Ike's Art, Spectrum Noir markers, and some glue to make this wee little fun project!  If I had little ones about I would cut out the back and put the Sockies on pop sticks so they could stage their own productions!
Put your best sock forward and whip up a project to link up HERE at Ike's World Challenges!  We can't wait to hop by your blog and visit for a spell!  Stay safe and practice social distancing, ok?

Ike's World Challenges #132 Q is for Quartz Palette

Hi, all!  Hope all are safe and sane as we come up on the midway point of our challenge this month at Ike's World Challenges!   We are as always Anything Goes or you may go for the beautiful theme of Q is for Quartz Palette!
I kinda played in the middle of the road this time and used the gorgeous colors of the palette with a galaxy inspired background๐Ÿ˜.  So let's go for a spin in a UFO!  This little guy is named Arnie and he is really practicing social distancing (And good for him!  I am seeing a lot of folks who could learn from Arnie!) while sending his love to his best friend!
This delightful image is by our fabulous Ike's Art and is appropriately named "Alien Fone Home"!  Now the really awesome news is that Ike's Art is having a SALE for us for her birthday!  Did you get all of that cause even I got confused a bit!   Run, safely and without scissors, to the link and go have FUN!  So, back to Arnie....he was colored up with some Prismacolor colored pencils, fussy cut, and popped on a piece of canvas paper sporting a galaxy for him to zoom around in his spacecraft!  The sentiment is by Inkadinkado "kids quotes" and these make me smile every time I use them!  A bit of pink cardstock and we are done!
I hope you come by and play with us this month....still lots of time!
Space love and sparkly stars to everyone!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IKE!! We love you lots and lots!

Ike's World Challenges #131

Hey!  Paper Piecing/Anything Goes is underway at Ike's World Challenges!  Come play with us this month!  Check out all of the fun at Ike's World Challenges and find the linky party HERE!

I must confess to playing almost nonstop "Animal Crossing New Horizons" on my birthday Switch!  It keeps my mind from wandering off into thoughts of things that are happening right now.  I find the koi on the game so pretty!   I was going through my Ike's Art images and found this adorable little fish...I call him a koi.  He is from the set "Tropical Fish" and I love him!  Paper piecing is not one of my strong points so I used a background paper that reminded me of cherry blossoms on water to hide any of my cutting and piecing mistakes ๐Ÿ˜‡!
We can't wait to visit your blogs and see your projects this month!   Remember, you can choose to paper piece or go with Anything Goes.....we are not picky at all!  Stay safe and let's send love to all those affected during these troubling times!  Hugs to you all!

Challenge #130 O is for OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE/ANYTHING GOES.

Hi all!  It's time for a midway posting at Ike's World Challenges for March!   Our challenge #130 is Out of Your Comfort Zone and/or Anything Goes!  Come play with us HERE!

I have wanted to watercolor forever but the lack of "control" with watercolors always made me hesitant.  Painting with acrylics is much more controlled for me and easier to fix a happy mistake! ๐Ÿ˜Š  So for my out of my comfort zone I decided to use Koi Watercolors on two of the fabulous images from the Japan World Tour Series by the fabtastic Ike's Art!  You can also get the Japanese Lady without the word Japan in black and white or precolored separately from the collection.  Knowing this was for my design team make made me a little less cautious (since it was out of my comfort zone!) and I added my fabric texture/design into the kimono.  I was so pleased when it turned out as I wanted it to!  And a whole lot surprised I might add!   For the Japanese garden sculpture I took some artistic license and gave it some pagoda gorgeous red roofing!   You see this basic shape in almost all of the shrine gardens and most private gardens.   I had fun with it and was really glad the challenge theme kinda forced my hand to try it!
Ike has given us, as always!, has given us a freebie this month!  I find myself in a rush when visiting sites and getting excited about an awesome freebie downloading the image and dashing off without leaving a comment :(   Life is so hurried we all have to pack in our computer time and it is something we can overlook doing.  So let's all leave lots of love and comments for our designers who make our lives a whole lot brighter with their art :)
Of course you may follow the theme or just go with Anything Goes!  Ike makes it easey peasey for you to play along!  So come on and get out of your comfort zone or stay right where you feel comfortable....just make sure you play along!  We want to see your fabulous makes for March!
P.S.   I know my world has gotten scary since January and just this last several days have left us with empty shelves in our markets.  My prayers are for everyone's safety and well-being.
