Mermaids Letter Page Circle Book for MerMay at LeighSBDesigns!

What a totally fabtastic time I had creating this wonderful Mermaids Letter Page Circle Book Make a Book SVG Cutz Set by LeighSBDesigns!  I wanted to do a cool effect to show each page but alas I couldn't pull it off but it still looks amazing to me!

Whew!  I hope my spelling is not too wacky as I get this added tonight!  I fussy cut the images and added shimmer watercolors for some of the water lines adding white acrylic paint mixed with interference paint for waves and foam and bits of froth!  That also was added to bubbles and eyes!  I used lots of Distress Inks to ink all edges of the book, scales, sentiments and images!  I also added some gold acrylic dots for the Egyptian pages and some of the other pages.   I made my own also wacky book binding that would allow for expansion as I added lots of foam dots to pop things up!  It worked basically but Susan and Leigh could have given me some better ways!  They are the pros at book bindings! Some of the  pages I have just added  the images and sentiments on and will be adding more bits and bobbles to them later!  I will show them to prove I did them!  This was such an absorbing and interesting book to decorate and I loved every minute of it!  Leigh's SVG files cut beautifully and my Cricut only acted up on the pink scales of the add on Mermaid Scales Layered SVG Cutz and it was all due to my Cricut being haunted at times!👻 Which is a lovely line on which to mention today is the first day of the Something Wicked This Way Comes Half-O-Ween Blog Hop presented by LeighSBDesigns!  Check it out HERE!  My new highly treasured book goes to the MerMay Challenge #5 at LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

 

It's MerMAY!!

Today is revealing my second favorite character from the new FantaSea Collection by LeighSBDesigns!  She is Pearl Balleigh MerMonster!  She is just beautiful and so serene!  I had so much fun working with this image!  I also  used the FantaSeaScape and Senti Set for Pearl's lovely home!

I hoard papers and this background patterned paper was one I printed out and didn't use.  I thought it was perfect for Pearl and I painted a piece of cardstock with acrylic paint and sponged some pink on it and believe it or not it matched the patterned paper a bit too much!  I colored all the elements with colored pencils and adhered the sand and pearls (yeah I colored them as bubbles for some reason?) with foam squares and tucked Pearl behind them.  I painted all the bubbles and pearls with DecoArt interference paint for a bit of shimmer.  I inked the edges of the senti with Distress Ink and I inked the edges of Pearl and the sand bed, too.  Pearl can't wait to join Bastet the Catfish over at Challenge #5 MerMay at LeighSBDesigns!  All the details and linky party are HERE!

Challenge #5 MerMay at LeighSBDesigns!

I know I say this about every new collection Leigh releases but I am totally smitten by this very new FantaSea Collection!  That brings us to Challenge #5 at LeighSBDesigns.....MerMay!  Here is my crafty bit using Bastet Catfish Fantasea Pet plue senti , another senti from the FantaSea Senties Set of 6 sentiments, the SVG Cutz Mermaid Scales Horizontal Slimline Card Kit and elements from the Egyptian Elements Florals and Column Set!

I started with a black card base and insert/front and added the mermaid scales I had cut with the Cricut from cardstock I had painted with acrylic paint in mixes of phthalo blue and titanium white.  I added the scales with glue.  I colored Bastet the Catfish with colored pencils and used the florals from the Egyptian Elements set.  I fussy cut the lot of them and popped Bastet up on foam dots and glued the rest to the card leaving the flowers loose to give some dimension.  I inked the edges of the sentiment that came with Bastet and adhered with foam squares.  

I added some of the light blue scales to frame the dark blue insert that I cut.  The sentiment is inked with Distress Inks and I added some gold floral bits to the corners of both senties!  The inside senti is on foam squares, too.  It adds some bulk to the card but I am fine with that!  I chose Bastet to play with first because I LOVE fried catfish!!  Bastet is too adorable to eat so no worries there!😜  So off he swims to join Challenge #5 MerMay at LeighSBDesigns and all the details and linky party are HERE!
