Anti-Valentine Theme at the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers

The Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers has a delightful theme for #52 - A is for Anti-Valentine!  I had an unopened clear stamp set by Art Impressions that seemed to fit the bill, at least part of it.  I did not use her dear partner or the terribly cute bumble bee.  She pretty much speaks for herself!
Seems she has the same attitude that the Sisters of Snark and myself share about the holiday of luv!  I stamped the lovely lady, flowers and sentiment on white cardstock and colored with Prisma colored pencils.  Some fussy cutting and using up some old cardstock for the hugs and kisses sentiment were about all there was to it!  I tore  some cardstock to layer the pink cardstock to the hearts paper.  Oh, I glued the images and sentiments to pink cardstock :).

One More Time at SUYP Challenge!

I was moving my stamps downstairs when this little kitty stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps fell on the floor.  I have never used it before and I knew I had to enter him at Ike's Show Us Your Pussycats Challenge this month.  Then the search began for a sentiment and once again I stumbled upon the Krispy Kreme stamp also by Viva Las VegaStamps.  First, I must explain that I LOVE Krispy Kreme doughnuts and there are none closer than hour to me.  So I often dream of them 😼!  I transferred my love of them to the kitty and he does look like he is wistfully thinking of them.
I taped the watercolor paper down with masking tape for a crisp, white border and it actually came out perfect when it dried and I removed the tape. I used Koi Sakura watercolors. Instead of leaving it alone!.....I inked the edge with Distress Ink which I promptly smeared and lost my border :(   I colored him up with Prisma colored pencils after I painted around the image!  AJ inspired me to try it and I only had one uh oh!  I attached the image panel to some canvas paper that I painted in almost ATC size, each a different color from my acrylic paint palette.  I also inked the edges of it and was not happy with the result but a couple pieces of washi tape from a Daiso store in Japan made me a little bit happier!   The lovely doughnut store logo was stamped on another scrap of canvas paper.
I am entering this into Ike's SUYP Challenge for January. 😸

Boris

What fright this man's eyes could cause!  I love all the old horror movies; I can't watch the horror movies that come out now.  Too gory, too nasty, too everything! 🙂  The oldies could convey with one long zoom in on a face all that was needed to ensure a thoroughly good scare!   Boris Karloff, here, is from Carmen's Veranda.
I stamped the Crackle Background from Lost Coast Designs onto some paper with Distress Inks sprayed with water.  I stamped Boris on white cardstock and cut out.  The quote was layered on black cardstock.  I glued everything down onto the black bottom layer.  I used pop dots to affix the quote.

They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More

This stamp of Carmen Miranda by Carmen's Veranda has always been a favorite of mine.  I love the song by Jimmy Buffett about Carmen.  I was reading a bit about her online and discovered she died at the age of 46.  She was such a vibrant personality; she packed a lot of work into her short life!  So here is my tribute to Carmen!
I colored her with Prisma colored pencils and fussy cut...making sure to not lob off one of her fingers!  I used an embossing folder on a piece of canvas paper that I had painted blue and sprayed with some shimmer sprays.  I used some white embossing powder to bring out the details of the embossing folder.  I glued Carmen down and added some little yellow gems to the corner.  I used some stickles to highlight her jewelry and costume.  I stamped the sentiment and embossed with black on a piece of my painted canvas paper.  I glued the layer to the same green paper and left everything with distressed edges.

Twistoon Digi Stamps January Progressive Challenge

When I saw the cute Monsters for the Progressive Challenge at Twistoon's FB group, I knew I wanted him to hold the sentiment about New Year's resolutions.  It is a bit past the holiday celebrations but we know me!  Better late than never 😈!
I didn't have the company name on these fab sentiments.  Please leave me a note in the comments is you know the image maker.  I used Monster 1 by Twistoon Digital Stamps.  I had one of those days....I had this all colored up with my markers since the beginning of the month.  As I started to glue him down this afternoon, I smeared some black ink on his left hand.  No problem, grab the "right" color marker and plop it down and of course, it was the wrong one!  So he ended up with some gloves.....yep, after posting my Poe boy card with the quote typed wrong.  One of those days.
The background is more leftover palette paint on some canvas paper.  I used yellow acrylic paint with the stencil and inked up the edges.
Here I go to post this and I can't wait to see what I have messed up!  Grab your monsters and come play HERE!

Silly Poe Fun Continues :)

What a fabulous time we had blog hoping at LeighSBDesigns 5th Annual Poe Appreciation Blog Hop!  You can still hop over there and visit all the blogs for some Poe inspiration!
I will be posting in my FB group Edgar Allan Poe Creations Challenge for the rest of the month...not everyday I imagine but we will see :)   I laughed so hard looking at some of the more comical Poe art and I have been loving working on some very light Poe projects!  Today the Bohemian Rhapsody is playing loudly in my head!  Lots of echoes from all the empty space! 😁
(Edited pic...decided to use only one "from" 😸)
The one I posted earlier!I was playing with some layering in a photo editing program and so it was that Oddleigh Raven, Nevermore, Oddleigh Poe, and the Tree of Raggedy Hearts by Leigh all decided to play together to act out a little rock opera.  I couldn't find the original mastermind of  using these lyrics from the song by Queen but I do tip my hat to them!   Colored up with Prisma colored pencils and glue to a piece of canvas paper that saved all the yummy paint left on my palette after a painting session.  I used a white paint pen to chill the scene out.  I flicked white acrylic paint on the background paper for more snow.  I felt kinda  bad letting Poe hang from a tree....see it just sounds bad!  but he is really just hanging out enjoying the winter wonderland!
If you would like to enter your Poe project in the challenge, just join the group and post your make!  It would be nice to have a monthly Poe challenge so we can keep our hands in until the next blog hop!  See you in FB and the land of Poe :)

Day 5 of the Poe Appreciation Blog Hop :)

Thanks to LeighSBDesigns for hosting the 5th Annual Poe Appreciation Day Blog Hop!  Just click HERE to see all the projects and get those details so you can play!
Today is an homage to Poe and tea!  The tea thing quickly is here in the South we LOVE sweet tea and we make it in a pitcher!  Now some of you probably drink a cup of tea but we all offer whatever form we take it in to all who enter our homes!  The Poe thing is probably a tad bit odder 😊 but here goes!  Introducing the brand new line of tea bags from the Poe line including all your favorites like The Raven with its dark blend and The Tale-Tell heart with a hearty (pun intended) floral blend.  Hurry but don't push to get your Poe tea today!
I drew the tea cup and colored with colored pencils and fussy cut at the last minute.  There was too much blank space :)
Images used were Poe Portrait and Signature and the Raven by LeighSBDesigns.  The heart is from a digi set I Heart You and I am not sure who made it so if anyone knows please let me know in the comments.  I stamp most of the letter P on the small tag and attached it to the string from one of my bags this evening when I made my very sweet tea!   The rest was scrap papers and glue.
This has been a fantastic blog hop and thanks for the very sweet comments of those visiting my blog!  Visit again and come in for a glass of iced tea!

Day 3 Poe Appreciation Day :)

Ok, I have another question for you today.  Do you ever wonder what your bust of Poe looks like the morning after his birthday celebration?  I did, of course, and since the old chap probably never had a really cheery drunken birthday celebration; I hoped the scene would be something kin to my below project. Involving one of more drunken crows, some party hats, and our Poe ending the night with one of the said drunken crows on his head!  This situation occurring after Poe had asked the crow to fetch him a party hat 😊.
But first! we are celebrating the 5th Annual Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns on the Inspiration Blog!  All the details to play, hop, linky...it is all found HERE.
Some coloring with colored pencils and markers after a bit of layering of the images and let the party rock and roll!
Still time to play so get moving and visit the bloggers who have been creating with Poe inspired dreams and thoughts and make your own POE-tastic project!  Link up at the bottom of the post HERE

January and Ike's World Challenges!

I am so happy to start off the new year working with the amazing digital stamps of Ike's Art!  This month's theme for Ike's World Challenges is M for Male/Anything Goes.  Make sure you grab the freebie image "The Doctor" HERE and also share you project with us in the Linky at the same time!
The image I used this for this month's challenge is the "Book of Dreams" and I saw it in Ike's Art and I had to create with it!  It is one of those images that spark the inspiration and imagination!
I wanted a galaxy background and I have painted galaxies in acrylic paint but markers were a whole new ball game 😏.  I did have the wonderful resource of my Kit and Clowder Monthly Classes and Alyce has many lessons on galaxy backgrounds.  I have Spectrum Noir Markers and the color blends are hard for me with markers AND my Prismacolor pencils had disappeared soooo not a perfect galaxy but the image still is the star in this sky!
All the things a boy can dream about dancing out of the wonders of books!

I used Spectrum Noir Markers with some Soucolor markers and popped it on black cardstock.
All done!
Now it is your turn to inspire us!  Drop your project off HERE!

Poe Appreciation Blog Hop Day 2

Honestly thought today was the 19th but here it is the 20th so I am running a day behind.  What a surprise!   Yesterday began the 5th Annual Poe Appreciation Blog Hop at LeighSBDesigns!   Already there are some fabulous projects up and I was inspired by them all!
All the details for the Blog Hop are HERE at LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog!   Please read through the very few list of things we need to observe to make this a fun and stress free hop!
What do you call something that is bigger than an inchie but smaller than an ATC?  I haven't a clue but here is one of the species. ☺
Inspired by Leigh's layering of the verse from The Winter Raven over Master Poe, I gave it a whirl and tried a collage of Leigh's images.  Those digital art stamps are: Ode to PoeDistressed Raven Nevermore,  Distressed Splatter Heart,  and  Poe Signature with Quill.  I put in some background color with my colored pencils and gave Poe a little color for his birthday!  I layered the collage on to some fabulously texture little paper cards I bought in Japan at a 100 yen shop.  It was not standard ATC size but then neither was my collage so tiny we went.  I used some black watercolor on some watercolor paper for the next layer and that went on some black cardstock.
So we are off and running for the 5th Annual Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop!
I am also sharing my project in my FB group Edgar Allan Poe Creations Challenge.  Please join the group if you would like to play in a monthly challenge there :)

Dreaming of Snow with Oddleight Elf

Baby, it's hot outside!  It is humid and just plain uncomfortable calling for shorts that are at the bottom of the closet!  So with that feeling I decided to create some cold air and perhaps a  few snowflakes!  Oddleigh Elf with Snowflakes digital art stamp by LeighSBDesigns was just the image to print out and color up and use on my small mixed media canvas!
I got all painty and messy with a mixed media small canvas  and the following supplies:
Canvas paper from leftover palette acrylic colors
Prismacolor pencils
Rectangle die
Utee powder
Clear stamp pad
"S" stamp from stash
Gesso
Liquitex rough texture paste
Pink seed beads
White acrylic paint
Bubble wrap scrap
White paint pen
Glue
Coloring up this little elf and her snowflakes was such a pleasure!  Thanks to Alyce at Kit and Clowder for her Monthly Coloring classes!  I am just now catching up on a lot of pencil classes and practicing was fun!  I die cut her with the rectangle die and got on with the messy part!  The background canvas paper has been laying around in a drawer with a lovely shade of purple from a leftover palette thrown on it.  Next was a paper from my stash that I used texture paste on through the waste paper of a Holt's die cut from ages ago.  I save way too much!  When that was dry I finger painted white acrylic paint and gesso on the paper and the texture. The snowflakes were embossed with Utee powder after fussy cutting as best I could.  My eyesight is not very clear so I guessed as the smaller details.  Embossing first did help on the tiny snowflake.  I glued the image on top and added some tiny pink seed beads. Still needed something so a "S" from my stamp stash with some of the purple tones was added to stand for "snow" of course!  I put a touch of the white paint pen on the eye highlights and touched up the snowflakes a bit before drawing some snowflakes and lines around the canvas paper.

Show Us Your Pussycats Challenge #50

Starting off the new year right with some play at Ike's Show Us Your Pussycats Challenge Blog with Furrything Goes/ Happy Meuw Year!
I had some fun with a crazy kitty from Wonderland from the Alice Kats (set of three).
I have been working on my Monthly Coloring Classes from Kit and Clowder and saw a cool watercolor effect using colored pencils.   My next must have item is some proper paper for colored pencils but I gave it a try on my cheap ole cardstock 😺.  It was an enjoyable process and I can't wait to try again!

Some paper from my stash and a purr-fect sentiment from a Kit and Clowder lesson with a bit of glue and he is ready to have a mad new year!
I am entering him, of course, in the SUYP Challenge for January!
