March 24th Spring Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

Well, I am officially a year older since Monday but in this past year of uncertainty and worry I am wearing this birthday like a badge of honor for sure!  Spring is coming in like a lion here in the South and I do hope it goes out like a lamb!   I haven't played as much as I wanted to at the Spring Blog Hop hosted by Leigh;  time just is not slowing down a jot around here!

I am still playing with my marker classes.  This was a bonus lesson from Kit and Clowder.  Each month if you are a member of the pencil or markers (or both) classes you receive a free bonus lesson.  This was colored with Spectrum Noir markers and I have a very few of the greens in Copics.  This will look good in a frame I think! :)

The Spring Blog Hop linky party is HERE with all the details on how to play plus the Hop Rules! The hop closes at 5 minutes 'til midnight pacific on March 31st.

March 19th Spring Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!

I am in love with the Baby Bunny Balleigh Monsters that Leigh has set free with her Spring New Releases!  This set comes with three adorable bunnies and a delightful bunny border!  I am particularly all a giggle over Baby Balleigh Monster BunBun!  I do hope that doesn't offend Nibbles and Tipsy!

After being inspired by Leigh's ornament for St. Patrick's Day (check out the new releases all things green at LeighSBDesigns, too!) I made this door/cabinet hanging ornament.  Still playing again with the Spectrum Noir markers while waiting to augment my Copic markers :)  The balloons are from Romeo Balleigh Monster's set!   I used a white gel pen and my white Prismacolor pencil to try to soften some of the colors that went too dark.  I inked the edges with worn lipstick and mowed lawn Distress Inks.
Now off it goes to Leigh's Spring Blog Hop!

March 14th Spring Blog Hop with LeighSBDesigns!

I was going to publish this on the 14th and somehow lost the post in the muddle of my life!  This was for Ike's World Challenges and it is so spring time I wanted to put it in the blog hop!

This is from the Japan World Tour Series by Ike's Art!  I love cherry blossom season in Japan so I used the Japanese characters for cherry blossom, sakura no hana, for the sentiment.  More info on the my blog post for Ike if you would like to see it.

I am playing in the Spring Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns!

Ike's World Challenges #142 Anything Goes/Monochrome

Hi ya!  It's the middle of March already???  Time is simply scampering away so quickly for me!  Anyhoo, let's check out Ike's World Challenges #142 Anything Goes/Monochrome!  I am obsessing over cherry blossom season this year.  We had planned on going to Japan again last March but I need say no more than that on that subject!  So I am virtually experiencing Japan and creating along those lines.  I used the cherry blossom image from Ike's Japan World Tour Series.

The sentiment is one of the words for cherry blossom in Japanese, sakura no hana.  Hanami parties or cherry blossom viewing parties are held in Japan during normal times.  Friends and families gather and have picnics while enjoying the gorgeous cherry blossoms.
I finally ordered some Copic markers that were lost in shipment during the blizzards of last month but thanks to the company reshipping my order they arrived today.  I ordered rather randomly using the color blend charts at Kit and Clowder to get a basic set of colors.  After tearing open the package with glee, I started playing with them and can see why they are used by so many people.  The brush nib is such a delight after using the bullet nibs for so long.  So I colored up the cherry blossoms using the Copics and used some grays from some of my other sets.   I inked the edges with tumbled glass Distress Oxide and layered on some cardstock.  The die cuts are from my stash of paper pads.
I do hope you will join us at Ike's World Challenges #142 this month!  Have a go at the monochrome theme or as always you can play Anything Goes!   Check out the fabulous Ike's Art, too!  See you there!
