Edgar Allan Poe with Ike's Art!

I love Poe as anyone who knows me knows! and yet I sit typing furiously after having to quickly make a digital make for the wonderful Ike's World Challenges #113 Edgar Allan Poe.  Why am I not prepared you might ask?  I blame Halloween!!  Yes, the ghosts and goblins have broken my printer,  totally erased my concept of time, and well, anything else that might possibly be considered a down falling on my end!

So now on to the image Poe Bust by the lovely Ike!

Digitally colored and layered on the Dragons Lair Designs paper from the kit Trick or Treat.

I am off to cry in the not so dark about Halloween's horrible treatment of me this year!  You run get your Poe project ready for showcasing with no regrets but be careful!!

Anything Goes/All at Sea Challenge #111 at Ike's World Challenges!

It is midway posting time at Ike's World Challenges for August with the salty theme of All at Sea or Anything Goes!  So get all wet or play with whatever theme you like this month!  I have been so excited for this theme so I went into the deep blue for some fishy fun!

I have been having a stalled mojo for sometime now....and after much thought and some of them pretty neat thoughts! 😜 I sat down to implement some or one of those thoughts!  I was desperate!  Now did I find my mojo and make my ideas come to life?  Not even a little bit!  But what I did find was the pure pleasure of cutting and tearing papers and sponging and flicking paint!  I had myself some child's play crafting and enjoyed every minute of it!

This piece of 12 x 12 inch designer paper caught my eye as I was thinking so hard on the ocean.  If you don't look too closely you can't tell it is actually flowers!  It seemed wavy to me and with some white tempura paint sponged on over a torn piece of cardstock it became waves 😁.  Then onto some coral and some seaweed all cut from some scraps of paper I had then sprayed with a tea shimmer spray for the coral and flicked (my green spray clogged sadly) with green shimmer spray.  I glued the coral at the bottom then arranged the seaweed behind and in front of it.  The torn cardstock with the white edge became the perfect sand for the bottom of the sea adorned with lots of little glass beads!

Those fabulous fishes are from the Tropical Fish Set  and the lovely seahorse (from the Sea Life 12 piece set) are of course, courtesy of Ike's Art!  And if you have been checking out this month's challenge you will know that the cute seahorse is a FREEBIE on the blog!  I colored them all up with my Soucolor markers and fussy cut (as best as the old eyes would let me!) them out to swim among the seaweed and water.  I found some awesome little plastic domes?  haven't a clue what they are called, but they made super cool bubbles!

We hope you are getting your work space all messy and fun so you can join us!  And don't forget to check the Facebook group out for the Progressive Challenge that is in "progress" right now!  And of course get those felines ready for the Show Us Your Pussycats Only Challenge!  Just don't let them see my fishes!

Coloring Event at Dragons Lair Designs June/July

As most of the fellow dragons know, I am running behind this month and every little gremlin that could jump in front of me and this project have jumped!  So a quick digital make was required and made so simple and fun with the papers and sentiment from Guilty Pleasures at Dragons Lair Designs Etsy Store!

I am going into week 2 of my hard hitting Keto diet so working with the chocolate bits were very satisfying 😄 and would have been better had I not tried to lick the computer screen!  I took the FREE image from the Dragons Lair Designs Fan Group and colored it in with Paint 3D.  Then in a free photo editing program BeFunky, I brought in my layers from the kit "Guilty Pleasures".

Quick, fun, and done!  Just what was required for today's panic mode crafting!

Join us for the new fun starting tomorrow in the Facebook Group!

Ike's Fan Group Progessive Challenge

I have been wanting to really sit down and work with watercolors but alas I have kept putting it off again and again.  That of course did not stop me from using watercolors for my background of the terrifically cute "The Tea Party" image by Ike's Art! 😉  This is Challenge #5 for July and it works like this:  buy your first image then get next months free when you produce a finished project.  I have been kinda stuck on cards lately and that is not my strongest thing to be stuck on!  I love mixed media and art journaling but time has been sooo off for me this whole year that I have taken to doing what I think I can definitely get finished on time!  But for this fun challenge I just played with some watercolors....most of which were not very good quality which explains my not so brilliant blue sky! but play I did and have fun I did, too!

I colored the image with Prisma colored pencils and cut it out in a rectangle shape to glue on the watercolor paper.  Then water and brushes and some watercolors splashed around 😁

I am as always sliding in at the last minute but you can join our Fan Group and start playing in August!  Perfect timing for YOU!

Santa Paws Season's Greetings!

We are celebrating Christmas in July at LeighSBDesigns with wonderful savings on Leigh's gorgeous Christmas images through the end of the month and some wonderful inspiration from my talented friends!  We will be posting on the LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog so grab a sleigh and some hot cocoa (yikes! did I say "hot"??  Here in south Mississippi we are smothering it is so hot and humid!) and visit us!  I love the oh so cute "Santa Paws" and he is such a delight to color up!  He is a must have staple for holiday card making so make sure you pick him up while he is on sale. 😉

I colored him with my ever so cheap set of Soucolor alcohol markers.  I have been enjoying them so much more than my Spectrum Noir markers!  I stencil in the star and its trail with pine needles Distress ink then quickly dusted green Perfect Pearls onto the damp ink.  The papers were all from my stash from several years ago.  The sentiment was from the same paper pack; I just die cut the rectangle over the phrase I wanted.

Santa Paws sends his Season's greetings to you with a reminder that Christmas is only 5 months away!  And he hopes you will take the time to check out the Inspiration Blog because he and I know some awesome projects that will be posted by Val and Leigh!  Wink, wink 😜 but you didn't hear it from me!

Thanks for stopping as I launch my home spot here from now on!

What does every sneaky kitty say? Gotcha!

This little kitty made me smile from the first instant I saw him!  He is the absolute poster cat for crouching down and grabbing you as you walk, talk, eat, sleep, well, you get the drift 😊.  He is called "Crouching Cat" and I can't find a link to him at Ike's Art but he was a freebie.  And speaking of freebies, did you know that every month Ike gives a fabtastic freebie at her challenge Show Us Your Pussycats Only?  Yep, she does so don't miss out on freaking awesome images by Ike herself for free each month!

I made a home for this sneaky guy on my favorite handmade paper made by taking my palette paper when I finish painting and brayering it onto cardstock.  I just typed up the word in Photoshop and he is colored with my uber cheap Soucolor alcohol markers.

Make sure you crawl/hop over to the challenge and enter your favorite kitty to the mix!

Time to Move On

I am moving my main posts from my blog "Deep into the Darkness Peering" to here for several reasons.  I find myself no longer feeling that my creative side is strictly on the darker side.  That doesn't mean I don't look forward to Halloween and dear Poe's celebration in January with giddy excitement!  Not at all and I still like to trip the creeptastic realm like any ghoulfriend does.  I do find myself drawn more towards bright colors and cheerful images though quiet a lot lately.  Maybe my advanced age has something to do with it?? ;)   So with a fond farewell to my old blog I now want to work on this blog and be creative and happy here!  Dance the light fantastic with me on this latest journey of mine!
